Why place CBD Oil under your tongue?

So, you’re wondering why you should place CBD oil under your tongue? This is a very good question! Many medicines are taken under the tongue, or ‘sublingual’ as the technical term is, and the shortest answer is because the complex make up of the tongue as an organ and the surrounding membranes will allow any medicine or health-giving addition to be absorbed far quicker. Quite often, less quantity is needed as well.

However, and more importantly for some, people can struggle to take pills of any description for pain relief, anxiety, sleeplessness etc. CBD Oil is a great way to get faster relief from your troubles. The mere thought of swallowing a tablet is enough to put you off taking them, and certainly enough to cause a ‘gag reaction’. Others may have an illness that prevents them from swallowing pills easily.

So, exactly why does it work faster?

It’s to do with the absorption of the CBD Oil. The underside of your tongue is composed of mucous membranes and hundreds of capillaries (small blood vessels). Placing CBD oil under your tongue enables the CBD Oil to be absorbed into the bloodstream at a much faster rate. It also ‘bypasses’ the digestive system, cutting down on the harsh gastric process that occurs when food is digested.

CBD Oil should not affect your digestive system at all, but faster absorption means a more rapid process to obtain the benefits of the oil and calm any anxiety or other nervous disorders that you may be suffering from. Taking it this way will also relieve any aches and pains quicker than by swallowing a pill. It really is a beneficial way of taking CBD Oil.

How long should it be held for?

Calm Recovery recommend 60-90 seconds to hold their CBD Oil – this way absorption should be at its most effective. However, everyone is different, and it can work faster on varying individuals, just like any remedial substance. You may have to try different lengths of time, but try the 60-90 second method first until you find out if you need a little longer, or shorter timespan.

It’s also a great idea to ‘chill out’ once you have placed it under your tongue for the first time. Don’t hunch up your shoulders, try not to panic (there is no need!), just stay happy and calm – 60 seconds is not a long time to feel the consequent calming effect when it begins to absorb.

How long does it really take to work?

The same applies here – different people have different speeds of reaction. For most it can be expected to take less than 30 minutes, but for others it can be a longer process. Placing CBD oil under your tongue is far more effective than swallowing it or any other CBD product, however tasty it may be. The most important thing to realise it that a greater quantity of the properties of the oil are absorbed, with as much as 35% of it reaching your bloodstream, as opposed to only around 4-5%, if it has to pass through the liver before reaching the bloodstream for dispersal. Other foodstuffs such as fat, will delay any process through the liver and consequently reduce the effectiveness of CBD.

Calm Recoverys’ CBD Oil is one of the most effective on the market, and we would recommend the sublingual method every time for maximum benefit and faster results.
